LECTURER, INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE, 2007 - 2009 (Victoria University Wellington)
ITDN 412 ‘Interior Architecture - Institutional’ 2008, 2007
Co-coordinated the ITDN412 Interior Architecture final year thesis course with Associate Professor Daniel Brown, where the course was based on a studio teaching environment with 2 x 4 hour studio sessions per week. There were also 2 x 1 hour lectures per week. Daniel and I met to grade and moderate work after each submission.
DESN101 ‘Drawing and Modeling Fundamentals’ 2007
Course Coordinator for DESN101 ‘Drawing and Modeling Fundamentals’ four weeks before this course began, and completely rewrote the course, including all projects and lectures. Both tasks were ongoing throughout the duration of the course and required full time commitment. Lee Gibson, my teaching advisor, helped to review the course work which involved testing the projects before they were issued to students, and modifying course load.
ITDN, IDDN, LADN, DMDN 389 ‘Design Research’; 2007
This was a multi-disciplinary tutorial/seminar based paper, meeting with 12/126 students twice a week in 1 x 2 hour and 1 x 3 hour session (and attend a 1 hour lecture per week given by the course co-ordinator). Each tutor for the course was open to interpret the finer direction of the course within the larger structure of the course outline. It was both interesting and challenging to teach students from outside my own discipline in an abstract and subjective manner. I independently graded the work of my students, wrote substantial feedback, and met with the course co-ordinator and other tutors to moderate work after each final stage submission.
Additional Seminars: While teaching DESN 389 Design Research, several students struggled with the concepts and processes of the course. I created a range of supplementary lecture/seminars to help clarify the problems the students were having. These included:
